Fans waiting for the Fugees to
reunite, better not hold their breath. The chances of reconciliation between the
trio seems very slim, but solo projects from the individuals members seem more
like a reality.
With nearly 10 years passed since Ms. Lauryn Hill's debut, The Miseducation
of Lauryn Hill, fans have wondered if they'd see another album. According to
MTV, her label, Sony Music, says yes.
MTV News reports that Hill has acquired new management, and earlier this month,
released a new song called "Lose Myself," that was inspired in part by a guy
named Big Z, a penguin from the animated film "Surf's Up." The track appears on
the soundtrack to the cartoon film, so no, it isn't the first single from her
new album.
Apparently, Hill's reps say she's recently gone back into the studio with the
goal of crafting a new album. They say the singer/rapper has a library of
unreleased material in the vault, being that she has consistently recorded over
the past decade, but everything remains unheard. Despite having so much unheard
material, her camp revealed that she is currently recording new songs and will
likely add some collaborations to the final product.
There is no concrete date of release for Hill's sophomore solo project, but fans
who are dying to hear from her, can catch her live this summer. That is if you
are able to make it to any of her several show dates around the world.
She is on tap to perform in Dubai, Turkey and the Netherlands, as well as four
dates in the U.S., including a free concert August 6 in Brooklyn, New York.
